You could play a faster Deception variant, but if an aggressive style is what you preferred, why not simply play Light, which could invariably outperform Deception's attempt at aggro anyway? Slower variants have a tougher time keeping up against decks like Serene Light and Aggro Nature which could fill boards quickly and powerfully. The reward format change that encouraged quicker wins affected the incumbent Deception playstyle. This intrinsically meant Deception would suffer a bit more early and mid-game, but they largely weren't punished for it since mid-range was more popular at the time. But Magic's popularity last weekend encouraged some Deception players to try slower variants whose goal was to beat out Magic via overt card advantage through stealing. At the time, Light had difficulty securing the board early game against faster Deception decks, and keeping board control was critical for being able to snowball into a win after equipping Serene Blade. In fact, the core Light win condition in Serene Blade hasn't changed in weeks - the difference is fewer competitive players care about countering Light in this reward format.ĭeception's popularity last weekend impacted Light's performance (and therefore popularity). We've seen a meta populated by Light and Nature before, and while its pilots have gotten better at their respective classes and their card choices have become more refined, they've never been unbeatable. Deception is still performing well at the higher levels, not at the lower levels, but it tends to suffer mid-game against wide, healthy boards, which Light and Nature excel at developing. War is in a teensy-tiny slightly better spot with the Aeneas buff, but still not among the top performing Gods. Unfortunately Magic but isn't as popular, as the 4th most popular class, likely because its games take so long, which is in my mind one of the areas the Ranked Constructed reward format directly affects the meta.ĭeath saw some sparse play but is still in niche territory. The Tempo Magic variants that were popular last week can fare well against Light and Nature. Aggro Nature still does well, is the most popular God, and has a solid winrate especially at the lower ranks. Serene Blade Light is the standout right now. In short, given the limited time format of the event and a format that no longer considered winrate percentage, players were more incentivized to play for quick wins as opposed to building on last week's meta.
GODS UNCHAINED BEST STARTER DECK PATCH
While last weekend's Ranked Constructed event showcased a diverse range of Gods and playstyles, we saw a reduction in competitive diversity this weekend.Ī minor balancing patch was released prior to the weekend, but what affected the meta this time around wasn't a change to individual cards, but rather the newly announced Ranked Constructed format which factors in your total number of wins. /r/CryptoCurrency - News sub covering all cryptocurrencies./r/EthereumNoobies - An educational sub for newcomers to Ethereum./r/Ethereum - Offical sub, for discussion of Tech and Application Development using Ethereum./r/EthDev - Focused discussion for Ethereum developers and DApps.documentation, podcast, newsletter by and for the Ethereum community.
